Timberland and the SCA partnered with Root Down LA to transform Dr. George Washington Carver Middle School’s Garden in LA.

As a crew leader, we worked with and organized volunteers to beautify the school garden with projects including the installation of a tool shed, compost system, and picnic tables, as well as revitalizing the garden's open areas and walkways, and painting school logos on concrete surfaces.

Root Down LA is a non-profit dedicated to nutrition education and youth development. Root Down continues to put youth at the forefront of their engaging programs, strategically located veggie gardens, and micro-businesses building resilient neighborhood food systems.

Dr. George Washington Carver Middle School embodies the rich diversity of its South Los Angeles neighborhood. Carver Middle School is identified as high needs, and this event aims to provide the school community with a transformed garden space for educational programming.
