“I am Deliberate and Afraid of Nothing”
Kiln cast glass, salt bricks, aquamarine gemstones.
Salt kills snails through osmosis.
By installing the snails on a structure that would ultimately lead to their demise, this piece speaks to the nature of courage it takes to push through on a long slow journey where a positive outcome is not necessarily promised.
An aquamarine stone is inset to the snails as a third eye.
Ancient romans believed aquamarine stones would protect them from danger through long voyages instilling calm, courage, and ease of adaptation for their journey.
