The Chains That Bind You explores the process of unlearning and rebuilding beliefs around love, connection, and healing. The glass Lovers Card hangs while tightly pulled to tension; Suspended by chains that are drilled into the glass while held by a heavy medieval concrete frame. This specific Tarot Card is a symbol of harmony, duality, and choice. By transforming the card into layers of delicate glass, the fragile yet resilient material reflects the strain and anxiety that exists between the weight of past experiences and the potential for harmony.
On the reverse side, a repeated mantra is etched into the last layer of glass that reads, “over and over again I have had to conquer infinite hopelessness”. This mantra acknowledges the exhausting nature of healing and the persistence required to break free from limiting narratives. The work speaks to the courage it takes to redefine one’s understanding of relationships, self-worth, and emotional resilience.
